Mom is Going to be Late

In the enchanting town of Willowbrook, there lived a woman named Melissa who was a true wordsmith. Her plays were more than just entertainment; they were soul-stirring journeys that delved into the depths of human emotions and experiences. Melissa had an extraordinary ability to craft dialogues that resonated with the audience on a profound level, unveiling the hidden truths of the human condition.

Despite her remarkable talent, Melissa had a quirk that was equally legendary among her friends and family: her perpetual lateness. It was as if her mind danced in a realm of creativity, often causing her to lose track of time and reality. Even while driving, her thoughts would be consumed by the intricate twists and turns of the plays she was weaving, causing her to miss exits and turns, much to the frustration of other drivers.

Her home was a testament to her creativity and chaos, as she misplaced items so frequently that it became a daily ordeal to find her keys, her phone, or even her shoes. Mornings were an intricate dance of searching and re-searching for the essentials she needed to step out of the front door.

One fateful day, Melissa's quirk reached new heights of eccentricity. While on a road trip, she stopped at a gas station to refuel. In the grip of a particularly captivating plot twist, she paid for her gasoline, but her mind was so engrossed in her story that she drove away without actually pumping the fuel she had paid for.

Yet, amidst all her idiosyncrasies, there was one constant source of understanding and support: her husband. He had come to accept her quirks as part of the vibrant tapestry of their life together. When Melissa won a prestigious award for her exceptional playwriting, he couldn't help but be proud. However, the impending overseas flight to accept the award had him slightly worried.

Knowing Melissa's tendency to be late, he hatched a plan. He informed her that the flight was departing at 3 pm and that she needed to leave the house by noon to ensure she made it on time. The flight was, in reality, scheduled for 6 pm, but he had factored in the additional time to account for her inevitable delay.

Their children, having grown up with their mother's habit, had also learned to accept it. "Mom is going to be late," they would tell their friends, as if it were a universal truth that needed no explanation.

On the day of the flight, Melissa's husband watched the clock tick away, fully aware that his well-intentioned fib might just save the day. At noon, she finally emerged from the house, a whirlwind of excitement and creative energy. He smiled, kissed her goodbye, and wished her well, all the while hoping that this time, their plan would work.

As Melissa navigated her way to the airport, her mind wandered through the intricate landscapes of her upcoming plays. She felt a sense of exhilaration, of being on the brink of another artistic breakthrough. And as fate would have it, she arrived at the airport just in time for her 6 pm flight, her husband's ingenious ruse having worked like a charm.

With her award-winning plays and her signature tardiness, Melissa continued to weave her unique story in the world of creativity. Her journey was a testament to the fact that sometimes, it's the quirks that make life all the more colorful and extraordinary.
